Besides representing a great deal of cool fun during the hot season, Thailand’s Songkran Festival and the throwing of water is believed to bring good luck and prosperity for the Thai New Year. It is a time for cleansing, renewal and making merit. It’s also a time to visit family and celebrate a new beginning. For many visitors though it’s also a time when accidents happen.

A resort city of Pattaya's growing status must live up to environmental imperatives.....and now a significant start has been made thanks to a roaming runner... a fitness fiend, who daily saw the waste and rubbish discarded by the many visitors as he traversed the roadways and sidewalks of a favored fitness trail through the once picturesque seaside city.

We head up to the Phu Rua district of Loei province, where Thailand’s coldest National Park is blanketed in cloud and pine trees, and visit a nursery producing fine orchids, bromeliad and a flower used in organic insect repellent.
